Jason Voorhees is back in Friday the 13th: The Game
Jason Voorhees is resurrected from the murky waters of Camp Crystal Lake in Friday the 13th: The Game. The iconic white hockey mask of Jason will once more be coated in the blood of innocent campers as he lurks within the misty darkness.
Friday the 13th: The Game Brings Us Back to Camp Crystal Lake
Friday the 13th: The Game is the twelfth incarnation of the popular horror series, which began with 1980’s Friday the 13th.
The film revolves around a group of teenagers who are murdered one-by-one while attempting to reopen an abandoned campground. The killer is Mrs. Voorhees, and she’s out to avenge her son, Jason, who was left to drown in the lake by negligent camp counselors decades before.
The lead character, Alice, winds up decapitating the crazed mother, but she was only the beginning.
Jason is still out there… watching and waiting. Since the introductory film, all that followed feature the hulking brute as the main antagonist.
Friday the 13th: The Game incorporates all that fans of the series love about the films: the dark, foggy scenery; the creepy, decrepit cabins; the hopeless isolation of the campground — not to mention Jason.
Friday the 13th: The Game truly promises to be one of the scariest survival horror games of all time... that is, if the game’s creators, Gun Media’s Wes Keltner and Ronnie Hobbs, are able to acquire a total of $700,000 on Kickstarter.
Play as Jason Voorhees Against up to 7 of Your Friends in Friday the 13th: The Game!
Friday the 13th: The Game allows up to 7 players to team up against 1 player — Jason Voorhees.
For the first time ever, fans of the Friday the 13th franchise can actually play as the machete-wielding, masked madman. Jason is towering, and he’s powerful.
Keltner and Hobbs want to pay homage to the films, and that means making Jason able to kill your friends in the most creative ways possible!
Whether it’s grabbing a counselor by the throat and bashing his or her head into a tree repeatedly or lifting them up over your head and dropping them onto a rack of farm spikes, you can rest assured that Jason will make short work of the competition.
The 7 playable camp counselors consist of typical horror movie tropes: the cheerleader, the nerd, the jock, the girl next door and the edgy guy.
If you’re on the victim side, it’s more of a game of stealth, strategy and luck.

Friday the 13th: The Game Consults the Original Creators of the Horror Series
To further instill that sense of classic horror in Friday the 13th: The Game, Keltner and Hobbs have included actor, director and special-effects creator Tom Savini, the man behind the mask in Friday the 13th parts 7-10 Kane Hodder, and the film’s original composer Harry Manfredini in the development process.
This was a huge leap forward for Gun Media, as they lacked the licence to the Friday the 13th title and characters.
This was acquired after Friday the 13th creator and director, Sean S. Cunningham, noticed Summer Camp, a Friday the 13th-like game Gun Media was previously working on.
Cunningham gave Gun Media his blessing, which then greenlit the project.
